Sunshine
Coast
The
Sunshine Coasts spectacular coastline and fabulous topography
provides
the perfect setting for a lifestyle that definitely makes
life interesting. |
|

A 40 minute sail from Horseshoe Bay in West Vancouver across
beautiful Howe Sound will land you at the Langdale terminal on
the outskirts of the town of Gibsons. From there you can embark
on a fascinating journey winding up one of the nicest coastal
highways on the West Coast. Restaurants , Inns, and a number of
excellent B & Bs line the coast. There are tough decisions
of what not to do when it comes to recreation and the various
events on the arts calendar. The Arts scene on the Sunshine Coast
is second to none as there are a large number of shows and performances
scheduled throughout the year both by both local and visiting
artists. Writer festivals, musicians, theatre groups, art shows,
jazz festivals, are just some of the annual events that take place
up and down the coast, one is best to call ahead for ticket and
accommodation information.
World
class diving, kayaking, boating, and fishing are just a few of
the activities that are making this paradise a hub for recreational
activity. Hockey and soccer leagues are loaded with youngsters,
and the calibre of lessons available for kids is fantastic.
The
main communities on the lower Sunshine Coast are Gibsons, Roberts
Creek, Sechelt, and Pender Harbour. All kinds of interesting hikes
and lakes, inlets, coves, and points of interest are in between
and all around. Finding them all is part of the enjoyment. One
visit to the Sunshine Coast is all it takes to get hooked on the
area, and its happening to many. The Sunshine coast is changing
, and so is the mix of its people .
One of the great features of living on the Sunshine Coast is the
close proximity to the areas surrounding us. The coast here is
actually part of the mainland and is on a peninsula which is only
seperated from West Vancouver by Howe Sound. Unlike
Vancouver
Island you are a very close commute with a 40 minute sail and
the price of the Ferry is always a return trip (you only pay one
way). Vancouver Island ferries have not only longer sailing times,
but much longer line ups and sailing waits. Sunshine Coast ferries
leave approximately every 2 hours and you are off before you know
it.
Skiing
at Whistler, Grouse mountain, and Cypress is a day trip and strolling
the shops in Ambleside or Park Royal in West Vancouver is an hour
away from leaving Langdale.
There
are many inexpensive Float Plane operators in and around the Sunshine
Coast that can take you to downtown Vancouver in 20 minutes or
Victorias Harbour in 45, or the ultimate ski trip to Whistler
can fly you there before you can buckle up your boots. Probably
the nicest thing about living on the Sunshine Coast is knowing
that you are part of
a community that cares about its people and their quality of life.
Growth is happening on the coast and more and more services are
continuing to appear to make life even better. For more information
